At the beginning of this year KPMG d.o.o. Beograd donated over 250 pieces of various types of office furniture to 11 selected organizations for challenged persons in Serbia as part of the campaign Infrastructural Support for Organizations of persons with disabilities.
In keeping with its socially responsible business strategy, KPMG identified challenges facing these organizations in their daily work and activities, where certainly one of the basic deficiencies is lack of office infrastructure.

Funding for the purchase of equipment needed by civil society organizations, and particularly by organizations of persons with disabilities in Serbia, is fairly limited and scarce. Donor funding – both foreign and domestic – is mainly directed at development and realisation of project and/or program activities, while purchases of equipment and furniture for these organizations are frequently glossed over.

Due to the increase in the number of employees in KPMG Belgrade and the relocation to new, bigger offices, KPMG donated office furniture from its previous offices to organizations of persons with disabilities that expressed the need for this, in order to facilitate and support further development of their capacities and to improve inclusion and integration of persons with disabilities into society.

The following organisations which work with persons with disabilities were beneficiaries of this donation:
•Gerontology Centre Bežanijska kosa, Belgrade
•Society for Mentally Challenged Persons, Kruševac
•“White Cane“ Society for the Blind and Partially Blind of Serbia
•Society for Challenged Persons, Municipality of Stari grad
•“...Iz kruga“, organization for rights protection and support of persons with disabilities of Serbia
•Association of Societies for Support of Mentally Challenged Persons of the Republic of Serbia
•“A Child’s Heart“ – humanitarian organization for support of mentally and physically challenged children
•Info Centre for support of mentally and physically challenged persons in Serbia
•Citizens’ Association Centar za orijentaciju društva (Centre for Orientation of Society)
•Q Club, association of persons infected with HIV
•Centre for Monitoring and Evaluation

In keeping with its socially responsible business strategy KPMG developed its program of social responsibility for 2009 entitled Educational Support for organizations of persons with disabilities. The company will use the expertise of its employees in various fields as part of this program to train staff working in organizations of persons with disabilities to improve their efficiency and effectiveness in realizing their missions and for capacity building.
